Mobile Devices - Best Practices

  • It is strongly recommended that, when it comes to using your calendar on your mobile device, you only use it for viewing, not accepting or declining meetings. Use your desktop client or OWA to accept or decline meetings. This keeps your calendar appointments in sync with your account.
  • The Exchange Server settings sync email to your mobile device for two weeks. However, users may configure their device to less than two weeks.
  • In your mobile device Exchange Settings, turn off contacts to avoid having the entire Global Address List (GAL) appear in your contact list.
  • For iOS devices, if you want the GAL to appear in your contact list, turn on Sync Contacts.
  • For Android devices, if your Exchange Active Sync is selected, you will have the GAL appear in your contact list.
