Administrative Banner Upgrade Timeline

ITS is developing a multi-stepped approach to introduce Administrative Banner INB (Internet Native Banner). The general timeline is listed below and the Banner Upgrade Web Page will provide detailed information for each step of the way to a successful transition to Administrative Banner.

Banner 6 Workshops Offered - September 2005

The Banner 6 workshops will be offered for the last time in September. Check the ITS website for more information at www.its.msstate.edu/Information/Workshops.

Banner Upgrade Web Page Launched - Early October 2005

For up to date information, go to the Administrative Banner Information Web page. The Web page will feature the opportunities to prepare for Administrative Banner. Each week a new Administrative Banner “sneak peak” screen shot will be posted on the Web page. Users will be notified via Bannerlink when the page is available and when new items are posted.

Test Your Computer Early

Insure your computer and Internet browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Netscape, etc) are compatible with Administrative Banner. Go to the Administrative Banner Information Page and follow the “Browser Check” link. Also, instructions for testing your computer will be sent to you via Bannerlink. When you have confirmed that your browser is compatible with Administrative Banner, a success screen will be displayed.

Preview Sessions - Early November

Preview Sessions in a lecture format for the latest Banner release will be available beginning early-November for all current Banner users. The primary focus of these sessions will be to familiarize users with the new look and features of Administrative Banner INB. Please note that these sessions are not hands-on. Registration information will be sent to all Banner users via Bannerlink.

In addition to the preview opportunities, the Banner documentation is currently being rewritten and reformatted for version 7. A hard copy will be distributed to all departments. Detailed information and instructions for obtaining the manual will be sent to all department in late October.

Open Labs - November 8 – 10

Hands-On lab times will be available for ALL Banner users to practice using Administrative Banner. Registration information will be sent to all Banner users via Bannerlink.

Banner Downtime - November 11 – 13

Banner will be available until 5:00 pm on November 11. Banner will not be available while the upgrade takes place.

Administrative Banner Goes Live - November 14

Administrative Banner Workshops Offered - November 2005 & January 2006

The following Banner classes will be offered in November: Navigation & Financial Query, Requisitions and Invoice Processing. All regular Banner classes will resume in January 2006 (Navigation & Financial Query, Payroll Time Entry, Leave Entry, Requisitions, Invoice Processing, and Electronic Approvals of Online Job Labor Redistributions).
