Email Account
- The University’s Electronic
Communications Student Policy
states that MSU will use email to send official communication to
students. You are automatically assigned your official email address
when you become a student, and you should routinely check this email
address just as you would your post office box.
- Create a New Ra Account
- Ra is generally used by faculty and students for Unix shell
accounts for web page creations and access to software such as
statistical packages, compilers, and other application software
used for academic purposes.
- Create a New GroupWise Account
- Novell GroupWise is a groupware application that includes the
essentials for handling email, appointment, and calendar needs.
This type of account is available to only faculty and staff members
and student workers (requested by their supervisor only).
- Create a New Email Account for Departments and Organizations
- This account is created when a department or organization at
Mississippi State University requires a shared correspondence
email account.
- Create a New Novell Account
- A Novell account is the university's typical method of granting
user access to our secured file servers and networked printers.
There are three major servers--Jade, Topaz, and Quartz-- and several
departmental servers. You can access these servers ONLY from campus:
dial-up is not allowed. This type of account is available to faculty
and staff members, student workers (requested by their supervisor
only), and Architecture students (restricted access).
- Create a New Dial-up Account
- Mississippi State University provides dial-up network access
service as a convenience to students, faculty and staff. Features
include access speeds of up to 56 Kbps (v.90) and support for
PPP, Slip, and Telnet protocols.
- Create New LDS Account
- The University Long Distance System (LDS) provides faculty,
staff, and on-campus students with direct dial access to worldwide
telephone networks.
- Create a New Administration Banner Account (60 KB PDF File)
- Banner is MSU's administrative software package, currently containing
university finance, human resources, student and financial aid
information. This type of account is available only to faculty
and staff.
- Create a New myCourses Course
- There are three types of myCourses courses, Academic, External and Development. All Academic courses are automatically created when a course is marked to use myCourses within myBanner (link to myBanner). Only External and Development myCourses need to be requested with this form.
