Windows Vista Overview
Microsoft announced that the latest versions of its Windows Vista operating system became available in January, 2007.
Vista Compatibility
Windows Vista is compatible with the following applications in use at MSU.
* Banner
* Novell Client for Vista SP1
* Novell iPrint client 5.08 or later
* SAS ver. 9.1.3 or later
* SPSS ver. 15 with hot patch or later
* Autodesk AutoCAD ver. 14
* Oracle ver. 10g or later
* Microsoft Office 2003 or later
Vista Requirements
Microsoft's Vista operating system requires a more robust, hardware intensive computer than previous versions of Microsoft's operating systems (e.g., Windows XP). The minimum hardware specifications ITS has defined for Windows Vista is as follows:
- Processor: 2.4 GHz Pentium 4
- Memory: 2 GB
- Video Card: DirectX 9 capable with 256 MB video memory
- Hard Disk: 100 GB
- Optical Drive: DVD-ROM
- Operating System: Windows VISTA SP1
Vista Support
The support offered by ITS will be for Vista Business and Vista Ultimate. If ITS provides desktop support for your office, please check with your IT consultant before purchasing.
