Network Video Workshops
- Teaching at a Distance: An Introduction
to Interactive Video
- What is interactive video? What does an interactive video classroom
look like? Can I teach my courses using interactive video? Do
I really have to be "on-camera"? How do I communicate with the
students? This workshop, offered twice in November, is designed
to answer the basic questions about the technology of interactive
video and the use of interactive video in the learning environment.
Topics include transmission technology, equipment operation, and
the applications of interactive video. Attendees will participate
in an interactive "class" with another site and have an opportunity
to be the "teacher" through a practice presentation. Prior experience
with interactive video is not needed for this introductory workshop.
Participants are asked to bring visuals (overheads, handouts,
or pictures) from a class they teach.
- Streaming Video: A Viable Solution at MSU
- This exciting workshop is about Streaming Video and how you can
incorporate it with your classes or research. This workshop will
explain and demonstrate the technology used to stream video over
the Web as well as provide the steps necessary to place your videos
on the Web. Topics for this workshop include the software and
hardware needed on the desktop computer, features of RealPlayer,
advantages/disadvantages of streaming video and streaming video
applications. Emphasis will be placed on RealPlayer software.
For this hands-on workshop, no prior knowledge about streaming
video is needed.
