ITS Administrative Banner Factsheets

Installing JRE Software (1,055 KB)
In order to launch and run Internet Native Banner (INB), all computers must have the latest software of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed. Your computer system will automatically prompt you to install this software. If your system is running applications that already require this version of JRE or higher, you will not be prompted to install the software.
Logging Into Banner (110 KB)
Faculty, staff and students can access their personal employee and student information from MyBanner or Administrative Banner.

Disabling Pop-up Blockers in Internet Explorer (238 KB)
There are a number of pop-up blocking mechanisms built into connection software (offered by internet service providers), browsers, and third-party software. These interfere with certain tools in programs. It is recommened that you turn the pop-up blocking software off to avoid such issues.
Forwarding Your University Email Address (88 KB)
All MSU faculty, staff and students are provided a university email address. Your university email address is in the form of NetID@msstate.edu, where NetID is your unique MSU indentifier. It is also possible that you will obtain other email addresses while at MSU. The NetID@msstate.edu address is used by the University as one means of communication with you. Whether you read your email at this address, or forward it to some other address, you should be aware that you have it to ensure that you receive important university email correspondence. Setting Up List Managers and Owners for College/Major Email Lists

MyBanner provides colleges the ability to set up and maintain student email lists by college and/or major. With these lists, colleges can send email to all students in a specific major or college-wide by level (undergraduate, graduate) and classification (freshmen, sophomore, junior, senior).
Updating Your Email Address in MyBanner (112 KB)
Faculty and staff can manage their email address that is listed in the MSU Campus Directories (both printed and on-line [www.msstate.edu/directory]). Updating a directory email address is done through MyBanner. This factsheet will provide step by step instructions on updating your email address in MyBanner.

Faculty can automatically create a class email list for each class. This allows an instructor to send mass email to every student enrolled in a specific class.

Using MyBanner to import class rosters into Microsoft Excel just takes a few steps and can be an excellent time saver for any faculty member.
Specifying Your Preferred Name (93 KB)
If you are an employee who would like to be referred by something other than your first name, you may choose a preferred name.
Changing Your Directory Email Address (223 KB)
Each MSU employee has an email address displayed in the printed and online campus directories. The initial directory email address for each employee is their university email address. Employees can change their directory email address at any time.
